Curling Safely This Season
Compliance with these protocols will reduce the risk of CoVid-19.
The Middlesex London Health Unit randomly checks for compliance to these protocols.
Pre-Game Protocols
- Mask are now optionals everywhere in the clubhouse.
- Sanitize your hands upon entry.
- Maintain 6 feet of distance at all times.
Game Protocols
Complete CoVid Active Screening with your skip BEFORE starting play. All players’ names must be recorded on the Daily Active Screening Record found on each sheet.
- No pre or post game handshakes; use a wave or broom tap.
- Designate one team member to sanitize rock handles before each game.
- Use Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide hammer.
- Skip with hammer sanitizes the numbers on the scoreboard before each game.
- Masks are no longer required in the ice shed, although masking is still strongly recommended when sweeping in pairs.
- Only touch the handles of your own 2 rocks.
- Do not share any equipment such as stabilizers or sticks.
- Follow directional movement and placement for team members (see diagram) – maintain 6 feet distance at all times.
- Sweeping behind the T-line may resume; however, we strongly recommend that the two skips do not go ‘head to head’ in any situation.
- Only one person per team will return rocks to the backboards using feet and brooms only. Order of the rocks is not important.
