Club Leadership

Club Leadership

The Highland Community Curling Club incorporated in the Ontario Corporations Act as of July 30, 2021.  It By-laws were approved by the Founding Members / Provisional Directors.

The Provisional Board consists of Katie Brooks, Brian Hayman, Don Lahti, Eric Toivonen, Glenn Hickling, Sarah Gray, Nancy Lizmore and Ian Gray.  The Provisional Board also elected Katie Brooks as President, Brian Hayman as Vice President, Glenn Hickling as Treasurer and Ian Gray as Secretary.  The provisional Board is planning on holding HCCC’s first Annual General Meeting of Members in October, 2021.  At that time the members will elect seven permanent directors, who in turn will elect the officers for the coming year. 


Transition Teams

The transition teams were formed to do the immediate groundwork required to get our governance established, launch our website, and make sure our curling operations are ready for the start of the season.   There are four transition teams, each with a lead and co-lead to ensure the team completes the necessary work on time.  Here is a brief description of the teams:

 

Finance & Funding

This team is responsible for all aspects related to the financial health needs of the clubs as well as the software that supports the website and league management system. 

Leads: Glenn Hickling, Maureen Nicol, David Stubbins (I/T)

 

Marketing & Member Communications

This team is responsible for member communications through multiple channels including the website and social media.  The goal of this team is to maximize current member retention and new member recruitment.  

Leads: Ann Stubbins, Sarah Gray

 

Facility and Curling Operations

Facility Operations: works closely with Darrin Sinclair’s team for areas related to the ice shed, operations, maintenance, equipment and Covid safety protocols. 

Lead: Don Lahti

Curling Operations: responsible for developing the membership categories and fees, league structures and ice utilization (calendar) including rental groups. 

Lead: Katie Brooks

 

Governance & Legal

This team will look after areas related to the lease agreement, staff contracts, the new club governance structure, insurance, incorporation, by-laws, and our relationships with the OCA & CCA. 

Leads: Ian Gray, Nancy Lizmore

We are centrally located at the Highland Country Club, in London, Ontario.
