The Board of Directors of the Highland Community Curling Club is very excited to share that we have been successful in our application with the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) for a capital grant of $200,000!
This funding is to be used before our 2025-2026 curling season, to replace and modernize the ice plant, to improve energy efficiency and safety, and allow the facility to remain operational for community sport and recreation. Moving forward with this project is dependent upon our ability to enter into a lease extension agreement with HCC which is currently under discussion. The full cost of this project is estimated to be near $450,000 with the additional funding coming from our capital fund, operating reserves and future fundraising initiatives. More information about these activities will be shared at our AGM in early November.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested more than $110M into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment. We are extremely excited and grateful for this grant and the opportunity it presents for our curling community’s future. Special thanks to Board member Derek Pamukoff who led the OTF grant application over the past two seasons and was instrumental in this success!
